EEU to develop new standards for children’s playgrounds

The Eurasian Economic Union will develop new standards for children’s playgrounds. The press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission reported.

The EEC Board reportedly approved a program to develop interstate standards that ensure compliance with the requirements of the EEU technical regulations on safety of equipment for children’s playgrounds. It is planned to develop 26 interstate standards, including ten on the basis of European standards.

«A number of standards will be developed for the equipment and covering of children’s playgrounds. They will set general and additional safety requirements and test methods for swings, slides, cable ways, amusement rides, and rockers. In addition, the standards will resolve issues of installation, maintenance, operation and ensure the safety of construction,» the message says.

The other block of interstate standards is related to the restriction of the content of harmful elements in materials used in the manufacture of equipment and covering for children’s playgrounds.

The developers of the interstate standards are Belarus and Russia, which should complete the work by 2020.
