Construction of city vaccine warehouse begins in Bishkek

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has begun construction of a new city vaccine warehouse in Bishkek. The project aims to further strengthen the immunization system and ensure the reliable storage of immunobiological products.

According to the ministry, construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2026. The project cost is over $107,000. Funding is provided by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (Gavi) with technical support from UNICEF.

The new warehouse will meet international vaccine storage requirements. It will be equipped with modern refrigeration and freezing equipment, an automated 24/7 temperature and humidity monitoring system, and backup power supplies. This will ensure the cold chain is maintained at all stages of vaccine storage and delivery to healthcare facilities.

The need for a new warehouse is driven by the capital’s growing population and increased vaccine storage capacity. The new facility will ensure the timely and safe distribution of immunobiological products to Bishkek healthcare organizations and will also enhance the healthcare system’s preparedness for potential infectious disease outbreaks and other emergencies.
