The permanent population of Kyrgyzstan increased by 37,400 people, or 0.5 percent, from January to April 2026, reaching 7,442,000 as of May 1. A report by the National Statistical Committee says.
According to the report, the population of Bishkek as of May 1 was 1,368,600, and that of Osh — 488,500.
According to Kyzmat state institution under the Presidential Affairs Department, 44,200 newborns and 10,900 deaths were registered with civil registry offices in January — April.
Diseases of the circulatory system accounted for more than half (54 percent) of cases, neoplasms for 13 percent, and respiratory diseases and external causes of death for 7 percent each.
As a result, the natural population growth rate reached 33,300 people, or 13.7 per 1,000 people.
The highest rates of natural population growth were observed in Batken, Osh, and Jalal-Abad regions, while the lowest were still in Bishkek.
