Former MP Kanybek Osmonaliev faces 15 years in prison

The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek continues to consider a criminal case against the ex-MP Kanybek Osmonaliev.

Hearing of arguments of the parties started in court. During the process, the prosecutor Bakyt Dokturbekov asked the court to set a penalty for the defendant in the form of 15 years in prison.

According to him, the defendant’s guilt was fully proven by the case materials during the investigation and trial.

The criminal case against officials of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on the fact of illegal enrollment of 24 entrants to the medical faculty in September 2013 was initiated on May 12, 2014. According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the investigation found out that the applicants were enrolled in the university at the request of the former deputy of Parliament Kanybek Osmonaliev.
