Naryn city has a Latvian twin city — Pargauya. The Institute for Development Policy reported.
According to its data, not only Naryn, but also two other rural districts fraternized with Latvian cities: Zhazy rural district of Osh region signed cooperation protocols with the rural government of Rauna, and Kara-Oi rural district of Issyk-Kul region — with the city administration of Amata.
Latvian self-governments have extensive experience in the development of local entrepreneurship. For example, there are about 700 operating enterprises per 3,000 inhabitants in Amata. Tourism and the processing industry are actively developing; unemployment is at a record low rate for Latvia. Local governments play a significant role in the development of business, creating the infrastructure, conditions for tourists, helping the business with marketing the products.
Signing of cooperation agreements took place on October 3 in Cesis Castle in Latvia.
The purpose of the agreements is to organize the exchange of experience in social, economic development and the preservation of the natural environment. Joint projects on the development of public transport, tourism, trade, public catering are planned for implementation.
The administrations of the two countries plan to hold joint events to spread the national traditions of Kyrgyzstan and Latvia, promote the cultural heritage of the two countries, as well as organize concert tours of amateur groups and exhibitions of applied folk art.
