MP proposes to rent out pastures unsuitable for grazing

Deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan offers to rent out pastures that are unsuitable for grazing the cattle. Amendments to the Law on Pastures and the Land Code are proposed by the Vice Speaker of the Parliament Mirlan Bakirov.

According to him, there are 6 million hectares of pasture land in Kyrgyzstan, but 500,000 of them are already unsuitable for grazing. Therefore, the deputy proposes on the basis of a competition to rent them out to farmers for a period of five years. «They will be able to cultivate perennial grasses on the land. We have only 7 percent of the lands all over Kyrgyzstan for perennial plantations,» Mirlan Bakirov said.

He added that Aiyl Bank could help farmers with loans for the purchase of plant seeds. «They must be issued at a minimum interest rate and for a long period. If a farmer does not cope with the assigned task, then he will be deprived of the land and the loan repayment period will not be prolonged,» told Mirlan Bakirov.
