Pedestrian zones may appear in Bishkek and Osh

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev suggested considering the possibility of creating pedestrian streets in Bishkek and Osh. The city administrations were given a one-month term, the press service of the government reported.

It was noted that many large modern cities have pedestrian streets that have become the centers of tourism. Historical, museum-exhibition, entertainment, cultural and entertainment spaces, objects of service and trade were created on them.

«The creation of multifunctional pedestrian streets, where the products of folk and art craft are represented, has a positive effect on the tourist attractiveness of the cities. At the same time, pedestrian streets become a recreation center for citizens,» the government noted.

Earlier, the Bishkek City Administration noted that it could make the west side of Erkindik Boulevard’s roadway completely pedestrian if the townspeople support the proposal.
