Acting Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov told today at an informal meeting with journalists why he resigned rather than went on vacation.
The law allows me to fulfill the duties of prime minister and after the elections — before the inauguration of the president. Many of my colleagues tried to persuade me not to resign, but to go on vacation, suspending my powers for the time of elections. I weighed it all, thought it over and decided to ask the president to accept my resignation.
