First graffiti art object opened in Bishkek

The first wall with graffiti created by Basicolors art group within the framework of I Love Bishkek project was opened at the intersection of Ayni and Toktonaliev Streets in Bishkek.

«The project is aimed at changing the public spaces of the city by the hands of creative youth and active citizens," one of the artists, Viktor Tsoi, told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the idea was to present the city in the form of a person who creates by one hand and destroys the created by the other.

«This picture was not created as criticism or condemnation of someone, it should serve as a reminder that the city creates and destroys itself. At the same time, I would like to stress how fragile the green city fund can be: it, like a drawing, can be easily erased with the help of eraser, whereas it takes much more time to create it," the organizers said.

It is specified that eight graffiti artists took part in the project, the preparation and implementation of the project took about two weeks.

Earlier, representatives of the art group told that the choice of this location is not accidental.

«The street is now not in the state as it used to be. Residents of Toktonaliev Street were against tree felling, and now they want to somehow change the situation. And we are using a visual positive course to tell about the problem," Viktor Tsoi explained.

According to him, the association received 69 applications from the city residents, and 4 more- at the opening.
