The deputies formally approved in the third reading the transformation of the Defense Council into a Security Council. The decision was made today at the meeting.
Recall, this change was prescribed in the constitutional reform. In addition to renaming, the powers have changed.
The powers of the Security Council are strengthened in the development of decisions on foreign and domestic policy issues aimed at protecting the constitutional order, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Kyrgyzstan from current challenges and threats, ensuring its sustainable development for the long term.
At the same time, the Security Council decided to concentrate its activity on improving the system of ensuring national security, identifying internal and external risks for the society and the state, organizing the work on forecasting, analyzing and assessing calls and threats, and developing sufficient preventive measures.
