Kyrgyzstanis abandon 48 children in 2016

In 2016, Kyrgyzstanis have abandoned 48 children; all of them live with the families of other Kyrgyz citizens. The head of the department for the protection of family and children of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Janyl Dzhumabaeva informed 24.kg news agency.

According to her, the number of unwanted children has declined in recent years. Specialists of the Ministry are working to reunite the child with a biological family.

«Our citizens, who are staying in migration in Russia, also abandon children. According to Russian legislation, mothers, when they renounce a child, write a statement whether her biological relatives should be informed or not. If a woman does not want relatives to know about the situation, we do not inform anyone. In Kyrgyzstan, we find the mother and work with her to prevent the abandonment of the kid," Janyl Dzhumabaeva added.
