Rehabilitation of Bishkek-Osh road planned for April-May

The Ministry of Transport and Roads has planned the rehabilitation of Bishkek-Osh road for April-May, the press service of the department reported.

It is noted that it is planned to repair 45 km of the road. Bishkek-Osh road is the only land route that connects the north and south of Kyrgyzstan. The traffic intensity is 35–38,000 cars a day.  The asphalt was laid in 1978 on this site.

The section of the Bishkek-Osh road from the 9th to the 15th km is almost completely destroyed: 70–80 percent of the roadway is in unsatisfactory condition. The depth of pits and potholes is up to 5-10 cm.

Repair of this section will begin DEP-9 State Directorate of the Bishkek-Osh road. An interindustry commission has been established to consider two options for repair: milling the cover and laying double-ply asphalt, or selecting the most damaged places with asphalt-concrete pavement milling, laying single-layer pavement with asphalt and installing a rough surface.
