Investigators of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) held face-to-face interrogation between Omurbek Tekebayev and businessman Leonid Maevskiy who gave incriminating evidence against him. The questioning also took place between Maevskiy and ex-head of the Emergency Situations Ministry in the interim government Duyshenbek Chotonov. Their lawyers informed 24.kg news agency.
Recall, a criminal case against Tekebayev and Chotonov was filed basing on the testimony of Maevskiy. Both are charged with corruption and fraud. The day before, Ata Meken leader and Chotonov were taken into custody for two months.
According to lawyers, the face-to-face interrogation was held via video conference. «Maevskiy behaved himself very haughty. He was sending messages to someone on the phone during the interrogation and was rude. Answering the questions of investigators, he replied that he had said everything in his video message. He insists that he passed through Chotonov $ 1 million for MegaCom shares to Tekebayev. However, the persons under investigation deny everything. Chotonov said that he had not received any money from Maevskiy and, in general, does not really know him," the lawyers told.
There was no face-to-face questioning between Chotonov and Tekebayev as there are no discrepancies in their testimony.
Omurbek Tekebayev and Duyshenbek Chotonov will remain in custody until April 25. Their lawyers are preparing an appeal to the Bishkek City Court to change the measure of restraint to a house arrest.
