Afghanistan’s Kyrgyz to be resettled to Chon-Alai district

Afghanistan’s Kyrgyz will be resettled to Chon-Alai district of Osh region, Kyrgyzstan. The head of the Department on Returnees Affairs of the State Migration Service of Kyrgyzstan Zhypar Mambetova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, they plan to resettle there 30 people in May. «This is a pilot project. The Ministry of Education will, possibly, develop a special education program for their children, because those who can read and write do it in Farsi," she said.

Zhypar Mambetova noted that the resettlement will be financed at the expense of the funds allocated to support the Pamir Kyrgyz. «The government annually allocates 10 million soms to support the Kyrgyz people living in the Afghan Pamir," she stressed.

However, the question of temporary housing for the resettlers has not been finally resolved yet.

The district administration has allocated 20 hectares of land in Kashka-Suu rural district. But the issue, where people will live at first, is not solved so far.
