The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan told the details about the prosecution of MP Omurbek Tekebayev.
A criminal case was opened on February 25, 2017. The leader of Ata Meken faction is accused of corruption and fraud.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the criminal proceedings started on the results of consideration of materials received from the State Committee for National Security.
Owner of a number of telecommunication companies of the Russian Federation Leonid Maevskiy submitted a written statement on prosecution of Omurbek Tekebayev.
Leonid Maevskiy said that in 2010 Tekebayev, being a deputy chairman of the interim government of the Kyrgyz Republic, received from him $ 1 million, taking upon himself commitments on creation of preferences for the Russian citizen, admission to the management of Alfa Telecom CJSC.
The Prosecutor General’s Office notes that Tekebayev promised in the future to sell shares of the cellular company to Maevskiy for a «kickback.»
«Tekebayev did not fulfill his obligations and refused to return the received funds, threatening with bodily harm in case of any claims and dissemination of information about a fait accompli," the Prosecutor General’s Office told.
Thus, Omurbek Tekebayev, occupying a responsible official position in government, in the illegal reliable communications with others encroached on public relations that ensure the credibility and reputation of the public service, respect and credibility on the part of the Kyrgyz population, as well as legitimate activities of the state apparatus, creating a threat to the interests of society and the state. Moreover, entering into the confidence of the individual citizen, he seized his money on a large scale by fraud," the Prosecutor General’s Office stressed.
