Ban on export of ore from Kyrgyzstan encourages companies to build factories

Members of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use believe that the ban on the export of precious metal ores encourages mining companies to build gold processing plants in Kyrgyzstan. Deputy Head of the Committee Azis Saparaliyev announced today at a meeting of Parliament.

Plans of the Ministry of Economy to introduce duties on the export of precious metal ores were repeatedly discussed in Parliament. However, according to Deputy Minister Bakkeldi Tyumenbaev, problems appeared after Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.

«Kyrgyzstan exports ore only to China now. But it can not be imported to China on tolling conditions. That is, after ore processing, products can not be brought back to Kyrgyzstan. We propose to introduce export duties on the export of ore, if it is not delivered back to the country," Bakkeldi Tyumenbaev said.

The Deputy Head of the State Committee of Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use Azis Saparaliyev said that now not all companies process the mined gold till doré gold state. Country has no gold processing plant.

In 2018, it is planned to launch a gold processing plant on Terekkan field, which will be developed by a joint Kyrgyz-Turkish enterprise.
