On June 27, 2026, one of the largest environmental cleanups of the year will take place in Ton district of Issyk-Kul region: a cleanup of Issyk-Kul Lake shoreline. The event is organized by the public association Kyrgyzstan Motorboat Federation, the State Agency for Tourism Development under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the public organization Zhashyl Dem.
The main goal of the cleanup is to clean the Issyk-Kul shoreline, preserve Kyrgyzstan’s unique natural heritage, and engage young people in environmental initiatives.
Approximately 1,500 volunteers will participate in the cleanup, accompanied by 15 representatives of the organizing committee, 35 district administration employees, 40 law enforcement officers, two ambulance crews, and specialized municipal vehicles. The cleanup effort will cover approximately 100 kilometers of shoreline, from the village of Kara-Talaa to Tosor. Work will also be carried out at popular tourist and natural sites in the region, including Myortvoye (Dead) Lake, Uch-Chunkur, Kekilik, Manzhyly, Kadzhy-Sai, Aalam-Ordo, Sary-Talaa, Skazka Canyon, and other sites visited by thousands of tourists annually.
The organizers note that such events not only improve the ecological condition of Issyk-Kul shoreline but also foster a culture of environmental responsibility, develop environmental volunteering, and promote domestic tourism.
Following the cleanup, a concert program is planned, featuring speeches by the director of the Kyrgyz Motorboat Federation and the heads of the aiyl okmotu. Participants in the flag relay will also take the stage, and a 30-minute show will be presented for volunteers.
It is expected to clean up a significant part of the Ton district’s shoreline and engage more than 1,500 citizens in practical activities to preserve one of Kyrgyzstan’s main natural symbols.
