In Addis Ababa, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Asein Isaev, held talks with representatives of African countries, including Kenya, Botswana, Liberia, Mali, Guinea, Libya, Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau, Somalia, Eswatini, and other countries in the region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Asein Isaev emphasized the growing role of Africa in the global economy and international relations. In this context, Kyrgyzstan is interested in deepening cooperation with the African continent.
During the meetings with representatives of the mentioned countries, relevant issues of the international agenda, expansion of bilateral relations, as well as global initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic within the framework of international organizations and election-related bodies of the UN were discussed.
Additionally, at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Asein Isaev met with Steve Patrick Lalende, Head of the Department for Partnerships and Resource Mobilization of the African Union Commission.
The organization known as the African Union is an association of all 54 African countries aimed at strengthening unity, promoting common positions and expanding political, socio-economic, and cultural ties between the countries.
The parties discussed the issue of further cooperation and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the African Union. The African Union Commission expressed its readiness for close cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and Central Asian countries as a whole. They also discussed in detail the possibility of organizing high-level visits and the potential for Kyrgyzstan to become an observer state in the organization.
