Deputy Zhenishbek Toktorbaev asked at a meeting of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Subsoil Use and Industrial Policy of Parliament whether the Ministry of Energy would stop taking loans.
He noted that the ministry’s debt currently amounts to $1.5 billion.
Energy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev responded that he could not stop taking loans, especially interest-free ones for a long term. He added that he would soon submit a $500 million loan for the construction of Kambar-Ata 1 hydropower station to the Parliament for consideration.
