Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov held a meeting with the rectors of leading universities in Kyrgyzstan included in the International QS Asia University Rankings 2025. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
«This first success demonstrates that by improving the quality of education, developing scientific activity and strengthening international ties, we are able to achieve real results. However, in order to achieve strategic goals, it is necessary to continue working on strengthening the positions of universities. Our common goal is to create strong and competitive universities that meet international standards and develop the scientific potential of the region,» he emphasized.
The head of the Cabinet outlined the priorities for further work: improving the quality of education, developing international mobility, stimulating scientific activity, modernizing laboratories and supporting innovation. He also told that the Cabinet of Ministers intends to increase a number of budget-funded places in universities. This year, 4,000 budget-funded places have been allocated for training of IT specialists.
Recall, the QS Asia University Rankings is one of the key indicators of the quality of higher education in the region.
Results of Kyrgyzstan’s universities in the ranking
Among more than 900 universities in Asia:
- Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University — 230th place;
- Osh State University — 260th place;
- American University of Central Asia — 260th place;
- Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin — 333rd place;
- Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University — 381st place;
- Iskhak Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University — 381st place.
Among 65 universities in Central Asia:
- Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University — 10th place;
- Osh State University — 13th place;
- American University of Central Asia — 13th place;
- Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin — 19th place;
- Jusup Balasagyn Kyrgyz National University — 25th place;
- Iskhak Razzakov Kyrgyz State Technical University — 25th place.
