Akylbek Japarov discusses success in QS Asia 2025 ranking with rectors

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov held a meeting with the rectors of leading universities in Kyrgyzstan included in the International QS Asia University Rankings 2025. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Akylbek Japarov noted that Kyrgyz universities showed noticeable results in this ranking for the first time, which indicates progress in the higher education system.

«This first success demonstrates that by improving the quality of education, developing scientific activity and strengthening international ties, we are able to achieve real results. However, in order to achieve strategic goals, it is necessary to continue working on strengthening the positions of universities. Our common goal is to create strong and competitive universities that meet international standards and develop the scientific potential of the region,» he emphasized.

The head of the Cabinet outlined the priorities for further work: improving the quality of education, developing international mobility, stimulating scientific activity, modernizing laboratories and supporting innovation. He also told that the Cabinet of Ministers intends to increase a number of budget-funded places in universities. This year, 4,000 budget-funded places have been allocated for training of IT specialists.

Recall, the QS Asia University Rankings is one of the key indicators of the quality of higher education in the region.
