The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund signed an agreement on financing of a project to build a small hydropower station on Shamshy River in Chui region. The organization reported.
The project is being implemented by Grand Magnat LLC and is aimed at increasing the energy security of the Kyrgyz Republic. The new Shamshy hydropower station with a capacity of 1.7 megawatts will provide additional generation of 10 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This will cover 10 percent of the needs of Chui region. The launch of the station is scheduled for 2026.
It is expected that the construction of Shamshy will help attract investment to the region and develop industrial potential. The launch of the project will ensure annual payments to budgetary and extra-budgetary funds of Kyrgyzstan in the amount of more than 2.5 million soms.
24.kg news agency found out that the founder of the company is Raimbek Torogeldiev together with Abdanbek uulu Belek, who is also the director of the enterprise.
Abdanbek uulu Belek has a higher education. His specialty is power industry. He had worked in this field for 11 years in such companies as Tundukelectro, Oshelectro and Jalal-Abadelektro. At first he was an inspector, then a foreman, and later reached senior positions in Energosbyt and RES. He was also the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Bakubat-Talas Foundation, Chairman of Ak-Kuul — national equestrian games in Talas region. In 2020, he ran for deputy of the Parliament from Mekenim Kyrgyzstan party.
He manages the companies EnergoProm and Shamshy GES.
