Former mayor of Osh Zhenishbek Toktorbaev has been questioned for a second consecutive day by investigators at the Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, sources in law enforcement agencies said.
According to the sources, Toktorbaev spent several hours with investigators the previous day and was summoned again for questioning. He is currently a witness in the case.
The investigation reportedly concerns the activities of the municipality during his tenure, with a focus on the city’s financial obligations, which sources say increased significantly over the past year.
Earlier reports circulating in the media claimed that following Toktorbaev’s dismissal, Osh’s budget was burdened with debts of around 12 billion soms.
No official comment from the Interior Ministry was available at the time of publication.
