Speaker of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiev said at an event marking the 100th anniversary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region and the 140th anniversary of the statesman Imanaly Aidarbekov that he would rewrite the anthem of Kyrgyzstan.
«We adopted the current anthem when we just seceded from the Soviet Union. Now we are a state that has gotten back on its feet and is on the path of development. Therefore, we must change the anthem. It should be one that everyone sings,» Nurlanbek Shakiev said.
The national anthem of the Kyrgyz Republic was approved on December 18, 1992 by a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic. Originally it consisted of three verses and a refrain, but the second verse was excluded by a resolution of the Parliament on December 27, 2012.
