Court Chairperson, her intermediary detained for extortion in Issyk-Kul region

Security services detained a Chairperson of Ton District Court of Issyk-Kul region for extortion, the press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

The judge was detained while taking $3,000 from her intermediary on September 27. During the search, $2,500 were confiscated from her, and the remaining $500 was seized from the intermediary.

On September 28, based on the decision of the Council of Judges, the detainee was brought in as an accused. The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in the SCNS pretrial detention center until November 17.

The SCNS noted that additional investigative measures are being taken to identify other people involved.
