Akylbek Japarov tells JICA Vice President about promising projects

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov discussed promising investment projects in Kyrgyzstan with JICA Senior Vice President Sachiko Imoto. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The meeting took place in the presidential administration.

Akylbek Japarov thanked Japan for support and emphasized the importance of cooperation. He noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is striving to move from a raw materials economy to an industrial-innovative model, and economic growth has averaged 7 percent over the past three years.

At the meeting, the head of the Cabinet highlighted priority projects, including the construction of Kambarata HPP 1 with a capacity of 1,860 megawatts with an average annual output of 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, which will require $5 billion.

The parties also discussed projects to improve water supply and provide the population with affordable housing.

Akylbek Japarov expressed confidence that the partnership with Japan would contribute to economic growth and improve the lives of Kyrgyzstanis. «We are open to new ideas and solutions that will help us achieve sustainable development,» he concluded.
