Kyrgyzstan's project in top 20 best global digital initiatives

The project of Kyrgyzstan on the integration of information systems for registration of newborns, developed within the framework of Government Accelerators, was included in the top 20 best global digital initiatives according to the international SDG Digital Game Changers competition. The Ministry of Digital Development reported.

The project was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development in May 2024 and supported by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration. Its goal is to ensure full documentation of newborns. Now information about births comes directly from maternity hospitals to the Digital Development Ministry, and if parents do not apply for a birth certificate within 60 days, social workers receive a notification and provide assistance with registration.

Since the launch of the project, 600 out of 1,200 children, who were not registered on time, have received birth certificates, and work on the remaining ones continues.

The application for participation in SDG Digital Game Changers competition, submitted earlier, was recognized among 1,180 projects. Kyrgyzstan took first place in Peace category among projects from Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.

The award ceremony will take place at SDG Digital event on September 20-21, 2024 in New York.
