The sentence of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s nephew Kairat Satybaldyuly was changed. He will be released from prison, as he compensated for damages in the amount of more than 700 billion tenge (125.1 billion soms, $1.46 billion). Telegram channel of Sputnik reports.
«In his petition, the convict indicated that he had fulfilled all the requirements of the law for filing a petition to replace the punishment with a more lenient form — a suspended sentence,» the statement says.
Nursultan Nazarbayev’s nephew was sentenced to 6 years in prison for large-scale theft from Kazakhtelecom, tax evasion and money laundering.
