China doubles volume of cargo transit from Kashgar via Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan

The volume of cargo transit from Kashgar via Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan has increased 2.1 times since the beginning of 2024. Xinhua news agency reported.

According to China Railways, from January to July 2024, China sent 100 container trains to Kashgar for further transshipment of containers onto road transport and transportation to neighboring countries. This figure is 51 trains (or almost 104 percent) higher than the data for the same period in 2023.

The total volume of Chinese goods transported by rail to Kashgar for subsequent transit through Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan exceeded 100,000 tons. This is 53,300 tons (or 114.1 percent) more than a year earlier.
