Deputy Balbak Tulobaev proposed to temporarily ban the import of fruits from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan into the country at a meeting of the Committee on Agricultural Policy, Water Resources, Ecology and Regional Development of the Parliament.
The reason was the appeal of farmers from Aksy and Nooken districts of Jalal-Abad region to the authorities, who asked to create conditions for the sale of their crops.
«Stop importing fruits and vegetables from Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. We have to sell ours. The Cabinet of Ministers must work with customs and introduce temporary restrictions. Let’s buy the harvest of farmers from Aravan, Osh, Jalal-Abad. Let’s buy our own, why do we enrich the others?» Balbak Tulobaev said.
Earlier, farmers from Jalal-Abad region complained that they were unable to sell their harvest in local markets, as they were filled with imported fruits and vegetables.
