At least 224 children left without parental care are being raised in 115 foster families in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration reported.
The ministry noted that compared to last year, the number of such children increased by 20 percent.
«As of June 1, 2023, about 188 children were raised in 97 foster families,» the Ministry of Labor noted.
Some 45 candidates for foster families are registered for training in the territorial divisions of the ministry.
- A foster family is a family that takes in children for a certain period of time under an agreement. Orphans, children of parents deprived of parental rights or convicted, children urgently removed from families where their lives are at risk, children whose parents, for health reasons, cannot personally raise and support them, as well as children left without parental care, children under three years old together with a mother under 18, and children with disabilities are usually placed in foster families.
