Kyrgyz airlines allowed to fly from Russia to other countries

Kyrgyzstan and Russia have agreed on the fifth freedom of the air. Vedomosti reported.

Recall, the fifth freedom of the air gives airlines the right to transport passengers and cargo from one foreign country to another for a fee when flying to their own country.

According to the media outlet, Russian airlines will now be able to fly from Russian cities via Almaty to Bishkek, Osh and Tamchi, and from there to one of the points in China (except Beijing, Urumqi and Tianjin), as well as to two points in Asia by agreement and other points.

Kyrgyz air carriers will have the opportunity to fly from their airports to 25 points in Russia via third countries and from Russia to other countries.

«In theory, this gives airlines from Kyrgyzstan the opportunity to launch flights from Russia to anywhere they want. But points in third states must be agreed upon by the aviation authorities of all parties. Therefore, the prospects for the appearance of flights, let’s say, Bishkek — Vienna — Moscow — Paris, are still very doubtful, especially given that all airlines of the Kyrgyz Republic are on the EU blacklist,» the statement says.

Freedoms of the air are a set of civil aviation rules that authorize airlines from one country to enter the airspace of another and land in its territory. There are nine freedoms in total.
