Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan plan to increase trade turnover to $2 billion

The 11th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan was held in Taraz city. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The parties considered issues of Kyrgyz-Kazakh cooperation, including in trade and economic, water and energy, cultural and humanitarian and other spheres.

Akylbek Japarov noted that trade turnover between the two countries has increased.

«Given the unused potential between our countries, we should not stop at what has been achieved. Therefore, the governments have set a task to increase the volume of mutual trade turnover to $2 billion, creating joint ventures and projects in the field of logistics, industrial cooperation, agriculture, energy and transport,» Akylbek Japarov said.

He noted that in the future the two states need to join the world transportation system of communications.

«Realization of the issue of construction of industrial trade and logistics complex in the area of Karasuu and Ak-Tilek checkpoints will allow to use the existing potential of the two countries with high efficiency. The use of joint transport corridors by Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will be beneficial to both countries. In this context, it is necessary to ensure unimpeded transit, avoid unjustified checks and delays at the border,» the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said.
