Illegal sale of snake venom prevented in Jalal-Abad

Illegal sale of a batch of potent snake venom prevented in Jalal-Abad region. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.

A foreigner and three citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic were caught red-handed while selling more than 500 ampoules of the poisonous substance Gurza — vipera Leberetna turaniga in Ala-Buka village.

The fact was registered under Article 292 «Illegal circulation of potent or poisonous substances for the purpose of sale» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

It was found out that the batch of snake venom was illegally brought into the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic from one of the neighboring countries. The seized substance is used in pharmacology and medicine, as well as in the production of synthetic drugs. The price for 1 gram of viper venom on the black market ranges from $300 to $600.

The detainees were placed in the SCNS pre-trial detention center. An investigation is underway.
