Cabinet of Ministers instructs to freely transform land for power plants

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting on the preparation of economic sectors for the autumn-winter period 2023-2024, construction of small hydroelectric power plants, solar and wind power plants. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

The meeting was attended by the Presidential Envoys to the regions (via video conference), government agencies and energy companies.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed to carry out high-quality repairs at all energy facilities of the republic and on power lines from 500 to 0.4 kilovolts.

In total, this year it is planned to overhaul 46,908.15 kilometers of low-voltage and high-voltage power lines, as well as 718 substations with a capacity of 35-500 kilovolts and 19,870 transformer substations with a capacity of 0.4-0.6-10 kilovolts.

Participants of the meeting considered implementation of the presidential decree on the transfer of land intended for the use of renewable energy sources. Bakyt Torobaev noted that all government agencies involved in the transformation of land for the construction of small hydroelectric power plants, solar and wind power plants have been given appropriate instructions.

«Delaying solution of land problems of entrepreneurs is unacceptable,» he said.

The Green Energy Fund has already received three sites with a total area of 34.54 hectares in Kochkor and Aitmatov districts for the construction of small hydroelectric power plants, solar and wind power plants.

Kyrgyzstan has the potential to build 88 small HPPs. This year, new small hydropower plants with a capacity of 137.5 megawatts will be commissioned in the republic.

In addition, a presidential decree on an emergency situation in the energy sector was considered.

«The Minister of Energy can now give instructions to the heads of local authorities, deputy heads of sectoral ministries. These powers allow us to make prompt decisions on a number of issues in the energy industry,» Bakyt Torobaev concluded.
