The Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan proposes to increase the amount of unemployment benefits. The corresponding draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was submitted for public discussion.
The background statement notes that it is proposed to revise the basic amount of unemployment benefits from 300 to 2,000 soms. The ministry explains this by the fact that the Constitution says that benefits and other social assistance must not be lower than the subsistence minimum established by law.
In addition, the document involves amending the regulation on vocational training, retraining and advanced training of unemployed citizens; regulation on the organization of paid public works; regulation on the procedure, conditions and terms of payment of unemployment benefits; the procedure for registration of citizens as unemployed or job seekers, adoption of a new provision on vocational guidance.
