Introduction of the state monopoly on ethyl alcohol will replenish the budget by more than 2 billion soms. Director of the State Agency for Control over the Production and Turnover of Ethyl Alcohol, Alcoholic Products Almaz Toktogulov announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on budget, economic and fiscal policy.
The deputies were presented with a draft law on the state monopoly on the production, import, storage, sale of ethyl alcohol and state regulation of the production of alcoholic products in the first reading.
According to Almaz Toktogulov, adoption of the document will lead to a decrease in the illegal circulation of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic products, and as a result of excise taxes, the budget will be replenished by more than 2 billion soms.
In July 2022, the President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree on the introduction of a 100 percent state monopoly on the sale of ethyl alcohol. Later, the Cabinet developed a procedure for establishing the state monopoly.
