«The investigators charged Almazbek Beishenaliev under the article «Extortion» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Preliminary hearings were held in the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek behind closed doors. The first open hearing is scheduled for April 18,» the sources said.
Recall, Almazbek Beishenaliev was detained on September 28, 2022 while taking a bribe in the amount of $110,000. According to investigators, he extorted money for the enrollment of foreign students in domestic universities. During the investigation of the criminal case, the former official voluntarily compensated for the damage and he was placed under house arrest.
