Inflation in Kyrgyzstan is expected to slow down to 12 percent in 2023 and 8.6 percent — in 2024. Asian Development Outlook April 2023 says.
It is noted that elevated core inflation rate indicates the persistence of strong underlying price pressures along with the announced increases in electricity rates and other regulated prices and the likely further depreciation of the currency. But analysts still expect a gradual slowdown in inflation. Such a forecast reflects likely declines in the cost of imported food and energy, as well as demand.
«Inflation around the world is slowly declining to its pre-pandemic levels. But it will still remain high for the region of Central Asia and the Caucasus, including Kyrgyzstan,» said ADB economist Jules Hugot.
