Beer and energy drinks fall under marking with excise stamps in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan submits for public discussion a draft resolution, which supplements the list of goods subject to excise duty stamps.

The document says that it is necessary to expand the list. This will help combat illegal turnover of excisable goods, create favorable and equal conditions for bona fide producers and importers, and remove barriers in mutual trade in alcoholic products with the EAEU states.

From January 1, 2023, beer, pipe tobacco, smoking, chewing, sucking, sniffing, hookah tobacco, nicotine-containing liquids in cartridges, tanks and other containers for use in electronic cigarettes, vapes and similar individual electric vaporizers will be subject to labeling with an excise duty stamp.

Marking of energy non-alcoholic drinks will start from January 1, 2024.

At least 78.4 million soms of excise tax on soft drinks have been collected since July 1, 2022, the State Tax Service reported.

Including 37.1 million soms are excise taxes on manufactured and 41.2 million soms — on imported products.
