Ex-head of SCNS Murat Sutalinov officially changes his last name

The former head of the National Security Service (now the State Committee for National Security — Note of 24.kg news agency) Murat Sutalinov changed his last name. He announced this on his Facebook page.

He abandoned the Russified ending «ov» in the surname. The new surname was formed from the name of his ancestor Sutaly.

Murat Sutalinov was previously registered as Murat Sutaly. According to him, this is the real last name.

In support of his words, he showed a new birth certificate. «I made such a decision on February 24, 2022,» said the former chairman of the SCNS.

Recall, Russia began hostilities in Ukraine on February 24.

Murat Sutalinov has already been issued a warning by the State Committee for National Security for his publications in support of Ukraine on social media.

Murat Sutalinov was a defendant in a high-profile criminal case on the events of April 7, 2010. Immediately after the change of power in the Kyrgyz Republic in April 2010, he fled the country, was on the wanted list for a long time, and in December 2011 he returned and appeared before the court. Later it turned out that he had kidney cancer.

In 2016, Murat Sutalinov was sentenced to 20 years in prison. After a while, the lawyer and relatives of the convict began to sound the alarm that he was seriously ill and could die in prison. The deputies of the Parliament also spoke in his defense, they asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to review the case against Sutalinov.
