Kyrgyzstan expands use of biometric identification

Use of biometric identification is being expanded in Kyrgyzstan. The Minister of Digital Development Talantbek Imanov reported.

According to him, Infocom state enterprise, a subordinate subdivision of the Ministry of Digital Development, has begun to create a platform for high-quality, reliable, remote identification and verification of citizens to expand the scope of biometric technologies. For this, a memorandum of cooperation was signed with VisionLabs, one of the world leaders in the field of computer vision and machine learning.

«As part of the joint project, it is planned to use special software and a biometric terminal in the process of providing public and financial services. The software will allow to instantly identify a person by facial geometry, improve information security, and make remote services more accessible to the public, minimizing the risks of forgery and fraud,» said Talantbek Imanov.

Identification will be carried out at an online request in real time, face recognition will be carried out with maximum accuracy and reliability. The technology is planned to be used in the process of testing civil servants, when obtaining driver’s licenses, in election processes, when registering at the place of residence, obtaining passports, issuing electronic signatures, providing banking services and using digital services in mobile applications.
