At least 1,766 fires have occurred in Kyrgyzstan for nine months. More than half of them — 61 percent — were registered in the private sector. Press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations informed 24.kg news agency.
«The main part of the incidents was registered in Chui region — 477 cases, Bishkek is in the second place — 320, Jalal-Abad region takes the third place — 252 cases, 210 fires occurred in Osh region, 189 — in Issyk-Kul region,» the press service said.
The fires killed 22 people, 24 were injured, 31 people were rescued.
The ministry noted that compared to 2021, the number of fires decreased by 24.2 percent.
The main causes of fires:
- Careless handling of fire;
- Violation of the rules for operation of electrical equipment, heating stoves and chimneys;
- Children playing with fire.
