«Unfortunately, the existing authoritative regional organizations are not fully trying to use the available opportunities and mechanisms to prevent conflicts that directly affect stability in the region,» President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, said at the 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
According to him, traditional security challenges and threats remain in this space today. But they appear in new hybrid forms. The global economy, which has not yet fully recovered from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, is now experiencing a new shock due to international tensions.
«Security problems in the global world once again call on us to deepen trust-based cooperation in ensuring a comprehensive and sustainable system of security and stability at the bilateral and multilateral levels between the states of the region. In this process, a deep analysis of the effectiveness of the activities of regional organizations and structures in terms of the implementation of statutory goals and objectives, as well as agreements reached at the highest level, is expedient. This also applies to CICA, the process of improvement of which should be accompanied by the actions and measures based on the analysis and forecast of the development of the region, its needs and problems. A special role here is given to the forum of think tanks, which is a permanent body of the CICA, uniting the leading analytical and research centers of the member countries,» Sadyr Japarov said.
