The first urban conference Gentle City will be held in Bishkek on October 1-2. Its organizers informed.
The conference will become a platform for cooperation between specialists in the field of architecture and urban planning, art, activism, journalism, social sciences.
The organizers plan to connect more than 10 post-socialist cities, exchange experiences and talk about common problems and possible solutions.
The program includes discussions, lectures, art interventions that offer a look at the urban space using alternative approaches.
The conference participants will discuss safety in public spaces, exploitation of urban nature and create a framework for the creation of a «caring» urban policy.
«We will also offer walks around Bishkek, embroidering the manifesto of Gentle City, postcards with the works of Bishkek artists, books from No Kidding Press publishing house, a collage session and rave,» the statement says.
