Sadyr Japarov still trusted by only about a third of Kyrgyzstanis

A new opinion poll conducted by the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) Center for Insights in Survey Research (CISR) in Kyrgyzstan shows that the vast majority of people are optimistic about the country’s future, while also expressing concerns over the economy and corruption.

According to the results of the poll, about a third of the population (34 percent) trust the President Sadyr Japarov. The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers — the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev is in the second place. He is trusted by 18 percent of citizens.

Nurzhigit Kadyrbekov, deputy, leader of Yiman Nuru parliamentary faction, takes the 3rd place (13 percent). His colleague, the head of Butun Kyrgyzstan faction Adakhan Madumarov, is trusted by only 8 percent. He is followed by Erlan Kokulov from Yntymak faction with 5 percent. Two percent of citizens trust Zhanar Akayev, Omurbek Tekebayev and Dastan Bekeshev.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is trusted by 1 percent of Kyrgyzstanis, as is the former head of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev.

The opinion poll was conducted by SIAR Research and Consulting from April 7 to April 20, 2022 through face-to-face interviews at respondents’ homes. The sample consists of 1,500 residents of Kyrgyzstan aged 18 and above.
