Hotline 118 to provide health advice in Kyrgyzstan

Hotline 118 will provide health advice. Acting Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Zharkynbek Kasymbekov announced at a press conference.

He recalled that the mobile operational service 118 was created in 2020 within the framework of the memorandum between the City Hall and Soros Foundation—Kyrgyzstan with the support of UNDP and KOICA.

«It proved itself during the pandemic. People contacted and received advice. Issue of strengthening this service is raised today. Pandemic is over, but we must be prepared for other challenges. As part of the preparation, international partners help us, hand over computer equipment, licensed software, everything necessary for its operation,» he said.

It is noted that regional Family Medicine Centers (FMC) have resumed the activities of 118 service operators in each region.

Vice Mayor of Bishkek Victoria Mozgacheva added that the service would continue to function on the basis of the United Family Medicine Center. «Citizens will be able to call and receive initial health consultations. This will help relieve the burden on FMCs and ambulances,» she added.
