Regulations on seed farms have been approved in Kyrgyzstan. Corresponding decision was made at the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which was held by the head of Government Akylbek Japarov the day before.
The document was adopted to create favorable conditions for development of the domestic seed industry, provision of agricultural producers with certified seeds of crops in sufficient quantities.
«The current state of seed sector of the republic does not meet the needs of agricultural production, and provision of agricultural producers with certified seeds of agricultural crops does not exceed 60 percent on average. This is only some part of the problems, on the solution of which we plan to work in the future,» the Minister of Agriculture Askarbek Dzhanybekov said.
Implementation of regulations on seed farms lays the foundation for further development of the seed industry and introduces new simplified requirements in terms of required land area for establishment of a seed farm. The types of crops in which such institutions will specialize are specified.
