The Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theatre named after Toktobolot Abdumomunov was opened in Bishkek after major repairs.
The event was attended by State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Suyunbek Kasmambetov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Azamat Dzhamankulov, artists, public figures and others.
In honor of the opening, the theater presented the premiere of the play «Tolgo» based on the drama «Manastyn uulu Semetei» by Zhalil Sydykov.
He emphasized that the state funded the capital repair in full and that the theater has repaid all its debts to contractors.
In July 2019, the government allocated 198 million soms for the overhaul of cultural buildings.
At least 84,605,100 soms were allocated for the repair of the Kyrgyz National Academic Drama Theater named after Toktobolot Abdumomunov.
The works started there in September of the same year. During this time, repair work stopped for various reasons: pandemic, insufficient funding.
The theater was commissioned in 1970. It has not been repaired for more than 50 years.
