Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov held a working meeting on medicine provision during a sharp aggravation of the international situation. Press service of the Cabinet reported.
Edil Baisalov noted that provision of the population with medicines is a matter of national security and one of the most important state functions, and therefore, during the period of disruption of previously established supply channels, it requires immediate and comprehensive measures from the Cabinet.
«Citizens are concerned about the stability of supplies and the regulation of prices for medicines and medical products. Pharmaceutical companies, for their part, are raising the issue of uninterrupted supply of goods, taking into account the latest developments in the region and high fluctuations in the exchange rate,» Edil Baisalov said.
As a result of the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed to draw up a complete list of vital medicines so that a clear and stable logistics of supply is established. In addition, Edil Baisalov gave a number of instructions to launch production lines and develop the pharmaceutical industry.
«The meeting participants also discussed and approved a number of other proposals and anti-crisis measures to ensure the stability of the pharmaceutical market,» the Cabinet added.
Kyrgyzstan imports medicines and medical products from more than 30 countries of the world. At the same time, the share of deliveries from Russia and Ukraine is about 60 percent of all imports.
Earlier, pharmaceutical companies said that due to the current situation between the two countries, all orders placed in Ukraine were canceled, and the possibility of resuming supplies remains unknown. Because of the sanctions, Russian manufacturers also suspended shipment of goods for an indefinite period due to the instability of the ruble exchange rate. Pharmacists offered their options for a way out of the situation, which they announced at the meeting they initiated at the Ministry of Health.
