Residents of the Kyrgyz Barak exclave in Uzbekistan ask to complete the work of the state commission on land exchange. Deputy Alisher Kozuyev announced at a meeting of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, the work of the two countries on land exchange was suspended for unclear reasons.
«The village of Barak belongs to Ak-Tash rural administration. Its territory is 208 hectares of land. It is surrounded by Uzbek villages. In 2018, the parties agreed to exchange plots. But only 85 percent was done; the work was stopped. Many residents of Barak left their homes and live on Kyrgyz territory. Only 15 families live there to preserve the village. Those who left Barak cannot return and cannot run the household. The Kyrgyz government promised them loans, but has never given them any. Those who stayed in Barak are in hard situation, they can’t plant anything, grow anything, because the Uzbek Republic doesn’t provide them with water,» the deputy said.
He asked the head of the state commission on delimitation and demarcation of the border Kamchybek Tashiyev to receive the residents of Barak exclave.
